Plaza Gardens Character Breakfast at Disneyland Paris

Plaza Gardens Character breakfast at Disneyland Paris

This spring at Disneyland Paris  has seen us waving "goodbye" to character meals at Mickey Cafe in the Disney Village and waving "hello" to a new Character Breakfast at Plaza Gardens Restaurant in the Disneyland Park itself. The stand alone cost for the breakfast is more than the previous character breakfast at Cafe Mickey at 35 Euros per head (adults and children) although reductions are available with some annual passes and with meal plans. This character buffet breakfast is not a cheap option but is it worth it?

As we didn't have a meal plan we booked the breakfast a couple of days in advance via the Disneyland Paris reservation line. We were booked on the first sitting and so we entered the park at park opening and walked directly to the restaurant and we arrived as our sitting opened.  It was nice to see the restaurant before it filled up, I love the Victorian style of the Plaza Gardens Restaurant.

The buffet contained a wide range of cold and hot options so there really was something for everyone. I loved that it included both American pancakes and French crepes and allowed me to have my favourite, crepes with maple syrup along with sausages, bacon, scrambled egg and potatoes. I also loved that they had smoked salmon. I'm sure the cereal was great too but I have to confess I went for the other stuff!

Disneyland Paris seem to have taken seriously previous complaints about the free for all of people not willing to wait their turn for the characters visiting their tables. In order to try to maintain order they created this handy pictorial guide which was on the table!

We met six characters during breakfast- Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, Mickey, Scrooge and Daisy. Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet came down our side of the room first, stopping at each table for autographs where wanted and photos. There was then quite a long break when all the characters left. Unfortunately this meant some guests were ready to leave when the characters returned and I think that the timing of this needs to be tighter, as a new venture they may have addressed this since our visit. After their break we then saw Scrooge, Daisy and Mickey who gave us plenty of time for autographs and photographs- thankfully with so much delicious food on offer we weren't ready to leave!

So was the meal worth it? For our trip it certainly was as this was our only character dining during this visit. I think this Plaza Gardens character breakfast is a nice alternative to character dining at Inventions Restaurant in the Disneyland Hotel which is more costly. Although this was more expensive than the Cafe Mickey character breakfast had been previously, the food and surroundings were far nicer and the breakfast felt calm and we left ready to begin our day in the park.

There are some reductions to be had, we used my Infinity annual pass to get a reduction of 15% off our bill (different passes have different benefits) and hotel guests with a meal plan can book this meal at a supplement to their breakfast, half board and full board meal plans. The DLP Guide website features a breakdown of the different meal plans here.
