Magical memories: Disney Cafe, Harrods, London

Last summer I had a fabulous night away with the girlies of the Barnett family to London followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea and a trip to see Miss Saigon at the theatre. My hubby and the kids tagged along for the first day and we had fun family time. After getting the train into London we visited the Disney Café at Harrods for lunch followed by a trip to see the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum with my sister and her little one.

They did not accept table reservations at The Disney Café but we arrived when it opened for lunch and were the first to be seated, it filled up slowly. The décor in the Disney Café is so much fun with lots of characters displayed around the edges. There are TV screens for the kids to watch but they were more interested in exploring the models of the characters and having photos with them -especially my daughter of course! The theming extended nicely to the chairs, crockery and food itself with Mickey shaped pizza for the kids and Mickey 'sprinkled' on top of our crepes. The lunch was light (and so were our wallets afterwards). It was expensive at around £45 for lunch but we expected it would be- this included us scrimping on drinks- we shared a bottle of water as the drinks menu definitely looked like the most costly bit.  However, the food was very tasty and we all enjoyed it, the whole experience felt special. It would be fantastic if they had characters to meet too but the décor itself made the trip special. It was certainly less than we have paid for many meals at Disneyland Paris and the theming far more fun. Lunch was followed by a trip to Harrods' Disney Store which was great too, lots for the kids to explore and do. This is certainly a trip I would like to repeat this summer if we get a chance.
