Photopass Day 2017 at Disneyland Paris, returning August 2018

Disneyland Paris PhotoPass Day 2017

Saturday 19th August was always going to be a fun day for us at Disneyland Paris being my Birthday and the last day of our holiday but it was the icing on the cake when I found out that it was also going to be the first time that Disneyland Paris would be taking part in Disney's PhotoPass Day, a day which also happens in other Disney parks including those in Walt Disney World. To celebrate the day we were given these stickers which my son was keen to stick on his Mickey ears!

The park was busy as expected for a Saturday but no one else had seemed to spot the PhotoPass photographer in Fantasia gardens. As we headed through the gardens to the park entrance we got our pictures taken in front of the entrance to the park both with and without a special Disneyland Paris picture frame.

On entering the park we walked towards the castle where we spotted another photographer and frame in front of the Castle. Then with thanks to Facebook we saw that Mulan was meeting by Colonel Hathies Pizza restaurant, we queued for about a 50 minutes to see her. Throughout the day we were thankful to friends on Facebook and Ed92's Facebook feed as Disneyland Paris themselves didn't advertise where the extra PhotoPass points were for the day, it would be great if sometimes Disneyland Paris gave more information themselves about their events.

As well as Mulan, their were other rarer meet and greets during the day including Clopan who we met behind the castle, frustratingly without a PhotoPass photographer! However, he was absolutely hilarious and more than made up for that with his interactions. Other rare characters who were around for parts of the day included Sulley and Cruella De Ville in the Studio Park.

I loved the props we found with the photographers in the Studio's- directors chairs and clapper boards in front of the Partners statue and an oversized fork and tomato in front of the Remy fountain. This was a creative way to make the photos at Disneyland Paris more magical when the technology at parks like those in Walt Disney World allows them to add animations and pictures to photos afterwards.

Overall I thought the efforts Disney made on the day were fun, and a step in the right direction. I was glad that I happened to be here on 'PhotoPass day' but I think that these photographers should be around the parks more often anyway, they make it so much easier for families to collect memories of their holidays together without the photographer in the family (usually me in our case) being missing from the shot. We tend to find our annual PhotoPass is good value for money but for those visiting just once or very occasionally extra photographers would certainly make buying a PhotoPass more worthwhile. What do you think? What extra photos would you like to see at Disneyland Paris? Photopass day will be returning to Disneyland Paris and other Disney Parks worldwide on Sunday 19th August 2018. We will be in Walt Disney World at the Magic Kingdom for my 40th Birthday that day, follow all the fun of our PhotoPass day experiences this year via social media (Instagram and Facebook).
