InsidEars-news from Disneyland Paris

InsidEars news from Disneyland Paris

So this weekend Disneyland Paris announced a whole raft of changes, renovations and new additions. These were announced via the magic of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook via Disney and the bloggers and vloggers who went to a special InsidEars event at Hotel New York- I'm not at all envious lol, honest! Anyway, here is a variety of the news big and small...

Mickey's PhilharMagic
Mickey's PhilharMagic announced at InsidEars at Disneyland Paris

This 3D show already plays at other Disney parks including at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to great reviews. This exciting show is coming to the Discoveryland Theatre at Disneyland Paris from October. I think this has been a vastly underused venue recently, often showing clips and previews so this is a really exciting development.

Mickey's Birthday
Mickey's Birthday Party announced at InsidEars at Disneyland Paris

This year the Disney parks will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate Mickey's 90th Birthday. Three months of celebrations will start at the beginning of October at Disneyland Paris. Most of the details are still to be revealed but the 'mouse party' will also include 5 big cupcakes to represent the 5 lands at Disneyland Paris. The amazing Mickey's Big Band Show will be returning with additional Birthday magic. We saw this show when it launched last Christmas and it was truly one of the best I have seen at Disneyland Paris, the music and dancing were second to none!

Food and Wine Festival
Food and Wine Festival announced at InsidEars at Disneyland Paris
The Disneyland Paris Food and Wine Festival returns for its second year. This year the festival will run even longer, from 27th July until 30th September and alongside the French stalls there will be other countries represented including Italy, Spain and Belgium. Check out my review of last year's festival here.

PhotoPass Day

PhotoPass Day announced at InsidEars at Disneyland Paris

This August 19th Disneyland Paris will once again take part in the international photopass day. Last year we were lucky to be at Disneyland Paris for the first photopass day which also happens to be my Birthday. This was perfect timing for this fun event where we got photos with rare characters such as Mulan dressed as Ping and Clopin from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I wonder who will be at this year's event? We also had fun photos posing with a variety of props in the studio park including clapperboards and a very large tomato! Check out my review of photopass day 2017 here.

Phantom Manor
Phantom Manor news announced at InsidEars at Disneyland Paris

Three main pieces of news have been announced that relate to Phantom Manor. Firstly the ride itself is currently undertaking significant upgrading and will open in the Autumn with new effects and scenery. Fingers crossed that this will involve upgrading the technology and effects rather than making any changes to the story which is unique to Phantom Manor. A clone of the Haunted Mansion rides in America is not needed. The other announcements include that there will be a ghostly PhotoPass opportunity at the Phantom Manor, this sounds like exciting times for the Disneyland Paris PhotoPass service which has not as yet had any magic shots with added images and animations as seen at Walt Disney World. The third piece of Phantom Manor news is the announcement of a Phantom Manor float called 'Mickey's Illusion Manor' as part of the Halloween parade. This will be just amazing, I love this parade and never thought it could be bettered until now!

Despite only being a few years old, the 'Ratatouille: The Adventure' ride in the Studios Park is going to undergo an renovation meaning it will be closed from August to December this year to fix flooring issues. As much as the mix of special effects used on this ride makes me feel car sick it is amazing and was usually a single ride must do on each of our trips.

Colonel Hathis Pizza Outpost
Colonel Hathis has of recent years been a fast food restaurant serving very mediocre pizzas and pasta. The theming has been the best thing in my opinion about this venue. The restaurant is going to be transformed but there hasn't been any other information released yet- so what will happen to it? Who knows! My wildly imaginative dream is that they use it as a Tiki Room, it could be a Tiki Room restaurant just as the original Tiki Room attractions in America were designed to be. I'd be interested to hear other theories in the comments below.

Disney Village
The Disney Village shopping, food and entertainment area adjacent to the two Disneyland Paris parks will be transformed with more details to be announced in the future. This is great news as I believe  this area is in need of significant redevelopment to bring it up to date and make it smart and exciting- it could be so much better!

Further renovations and improvements...
The iconic Twilight Tower of Terror at the Studios will see scaffolding erected as it begins renovations between August and December this year. This will be a blow to those for whom this is a highlight of their visit. A longer term project is the return of the Mark Twain Riverboat which had been abandoned and left to rot. The boat should be ready to set sail again in 2020.

Along with some fabulous looking new merchandise and yummy snacks there is so much to look forward to at Disneyland Paris. It is great to see the care that is being put into investing in the future of the parks.
